Why Does William Fichtner Compare the F-150 Raptor to a Fighter Jet?

In the premier episode of the new Top Gear America series, host William Fichtner (whom you may remember from movies like Contact and Armageddon) says while driving the F-150 Raptor: "This is a precision instrument, a fighter jet on four wheels."

What makes him throw such a bold comparison?

Actually, now that we've said it out loud, it's amazing nobody's made the comparison before. The name F-150 Raptor sounds like it should be a fighter jet, doesn't it? Nomenclature aside, this off-road-racing pickup earns the analogy.

With intense racing shocks, with nine-stage bypass dampening and hydraulic bump stops, a widened track, over 13 inches of suspension travel for front and rear, and 510 pound-feet of torque, the 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor is honed for high-speed performance over any kind of terrain. Other off-roading trucks may have four-wheel drive and high ground clearance, but the Raptor delivers confidence in conditions that would make other trucks have to sit out.

Visit Vista Ford Lincoln of Oxnard and learn how you can start enjoying time on the trails with one of these incredible trucks.
